We are delighted to present a new release from Deirdre O'Brien and Maurizio Caffer of Cascina Val Liberata.
On the calcareous hills of Basso Monferrato in Central Piedmont, the couple planted their first vineyard in 2014 and now care for four hectares of local varieties. A remote, untouched corner of the world, where the vines sit just steps from the Cascina, wrapped in meadows and forest.
From the 2025 vintage, we are pleased to offer the second release of Deirdre and Maurizio's gorgeous rosato, Chiaro, along with a new white wine, Luce, made from the rare local Baratuciat variety. Three years ago, the couple took over a fifteen-year-old vineyard in Odalengo Grande, adjacent to their Grignolino vines. After these years of meticulous soil care and pruning, the fruit finally reached a pristine quality the couple had been working toward, and at last, worthy of vinifying.
Together with these, we are excited to release La Musa 2023. After a good two years' rest in concrete and nine months in bottle, the Cascina's Nebbiolo displays elegance, depth and tension. Born of a fresh vintage, it's a red wine we'll reach for no matter the season.
