After a short rest in our cellars, we are delighted to release the 2022 Erba Salata from Colle Florido.
The sumptuous Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from Andrea and Daniela sees a few changes in its vilification in this vintage. As usual, the grapes come from the Colle Florido plot, where forty-year-old vines planted on a north-east facing calcareous clay slope, a few meters from the cellar. De-stemmed, the berries are placed in a large, open oak vat to ferment with their skins for just two weeks. After a soft pressing, the wine rests for almost two years in oak.
The shorter time on the skins and the longer elevage make this the freshest and open version of Erba Salata we have ever tasted. Aromas of maraschino cherries, red blossoms and blood citrus are woven together with graceful tannins and refreshing minerals, making it a perfect match for autumnal fare.
