After spending a couple of days at their beautiful house in Monferrato last November, we are delighted to share the Nebula 2022 from Deirdre and Maurizio of Cascina Val Liberata.
The couple's new wine originates from a selection of a singular Nebbiolo clone. Named 'Rosè', this biotype yields pale red grapes that are delicately perfumed, with fine tannins and softer acidity. In the generous 2022 vintage, the couple chose to harvest these grapes separately. After just one night on the skins, the juice was pressed off and aged in a concrete vat for two and a half years.
The result is a pale red wine, offering delicate notes of rose petal and earthy berries, with a hint of orange peel and liquorice. With integrated tannins and a textured mineral edge, It captures an evocative, essential expression of what we love about Nebbiolo.
