This is a new wine from Nikolas, Pinot Grigio with a small amount of Chardonnay and Malvasia Istriana from a plot in San Floriano del Collio. The vines were planted between 1960 and 1970 on soil and surroundings similar to those of the Montona cru. After a week on the skins, the grapes were pressed into a mix of concrete, stainless steel vats, and some old wooden barrels to mature for eleven months. A wine from another era, it shows a slightly pink hue and bursts with aromas of bitter herbs, toffee apple, grapefruit, and honey. The intriguing, vertical palate carries gentle spices and salt with some grip.
