Three New Releases from Claudio Plessi

May 2026

We're delighted to introduce three new releases from Professor Claudio Plessi.

Based in Castelnuovo Rangone, just a few kilometres south of Modena in Emilia, Claudio tends three hectares of vines rooted in alluvial soils rich in limestone. Tenaciously, Claudio focuses on vinifying ampelographic varieties that are almost unknown, yet have always been present on the Modena hills overlooking the Apennines.

Last February, we had the pleasure of visiting him - in the company of Marco Lanzotti of Angol d'Amig - for a memorable tasting session. That day taught us a lot about the Modena region and its quiet character. Today, we're happy to share three wines that we believe best express it.

From 2024, Muntanera and Lambruscaun, the first a grapefruity, vertical fizzy rosé from the ancient Uva Tosca, the second a vibrant, wild lambrusco. And from 2022, the return of Cavriulein, a savoury and lifted, dark-fruited frizzante from the Festasio variety.
