From a true child of Etna, Gloria di Paola of Tre.mi.la, we are thrilled to share a wine profoundly connected to its volcanic origin.
A former architect and natural guide, Gloria brings a deep, intuitive understanding of the land to her organic farming of 2.5 hectares on the volcano's slopes. Ex Voto 171 is sourced from a tiny, 80-year-old plot on Monte Ilice, a volcanic cone formed by eruptions a millennium ago. From this unique terroir comes a rare field blend of Nerello Mascalese, Carricante, and Catarratto.
The grapes are de-stemmed and undergo a brief maceration of less than a week before being transferred to glass demijohns for aging until the following June. The resulting wine captures the dynamic tension of its birthplace, offering a palate of sun-kissed fruit, minerals, and balsamic spice, all framed by elegant tannins and vibrant acidity.
From the 2023 vintage, with only 320 bottles produced, we have secured a precious handful.
